Daytime and evening bookings

The general hourly rate is £7.50; or £20.00 for a morning, afternoon or evening session. For adult or children’s birthday parties, there is a charge of £30. The charge for other festive events will depend on the nature and duration of the event. These rates include central heating when it is required, lighting and power, use of the kitchen and toilet facilities, and the provision of hot water.

Overnight accommodation

The rate is £3.00 per person for 18 or fewer people and £3.50 each with the use of the shower. This fee includes electricity for lighting, cooking, hot water, and the use of the drying room, also central heating when it is required. These rates also apply if sleeping outdoors in tents. Bookings will only be accepted as “without the shower” or “with the shower”, for the duration of the whole of the booking period – mixing the rate on different days is not permitted. A £15.00 per night non-returnable deposit is required, but the cost of the hire will be adjusted to reflect this.

Group overnight charge

For groups of 18 or more people, the cost for an overnight stay of one or two nights consecutively is £50.00 per night; or £60.00 per night with the use of the shower. For three nights or more of continuous hire, the cost is £40.00 per night; and £50.00 per night with the use of the shower.

Conditions of use

Availability

Mendip Scout Base is available for letting during the day, and on some evenings during school term times, and may be available at other times depending on the booking schedule. It is usually available at school holiday periods, and for a weekend and midweek use; as well as at the weekend, from 7.30 pm on a Friday. Other timings for weekend lets are available by arrangement, but only if it is convenient for Wedmore Scout Group to do so.

Bookings

The Base’s “Standard Conditions of Hire” applies to all bookings and the booking must be confirmed using the “Booking Form & Hire Agreement”

Payment

Within 14 days of making a provisional booking, a deposit of £15.00 per night is required - otherwise, the reservation will lapse. This deposit is non-returnable, but the overall cost of the hire will be adjusted to reflect this. The invoice for your period of hire, which you will receive will contain details for making your payment; which is due one month before arrival at the Scout Base.

Vacation

Usually, during school holiday periods, incoming groups should arrive after 2.00 pm, and leaving groups are required to have left the Scout Base by noon. Vacation of the Scout Base at the end of a weekend let should be no later than 5.00 pm. Rubbish & waste arising from the use of the facilities must be taken away by the hirer.

Respect

Wedmore Scout Group expects all users to respect the condition of the property and to leave it in the same state of cleanliness and tidiness as they found it - or better! Please give due regard for nearby properties, as well as the surrounding fields and countryside. Breakages, damage or additional cleaning that may be required, must be paid for.
